Contract Negotiations Galore

Can you ever have enough money?  Of course you can't, fool!  Well Michael C. Hall and the cast of 'The Simpsons' agree with you.  And they want to share their extra earnings with YOU!!!  Just kidding...

                                                            "We want more...money!"

Well, I think we can all agree that MCH is one of the most under-rated TV actors around.  And if you disagree, well you just clearly don't know what good acting is.  Sorry.  He's asking for a couple million more per season.  This is, apparently, a big issue for Showtime.  The star of their BIGGEST hit show has every right to ask for more green.  Why is that?  Keep reading.

Well, for starters, the show just brought in it's biggest premiere ratings (in it's 6th season!).  Secondly, he IS the show.  This precedent is nothing new.  We all know the cast of 'Friends' was making over a million per episode for a 22-minute comedy for crying out loud!  And Kiefer Sutherland headbutted the FOX executives until he got the deal he wanted on '24.'  But hey, he deserved it.  Jack Bauer is a true American hero.  And I think we all know President David Palmer was our REAL first Black president.

"I'd keep America in good hands."

If MCH can't get the love he deserves from the Emmy's, then at least throw tons of money at him.  I mean come on, the guy has been through Hell.

As for the voice cast of 'The Simpsons,' well, they ARE a part of one of the longest running series EVER.  Their situation is a little different.  They are actually facing pay cuts.  Facing the threat of the show being canceled, the cast settled begrudgingly.  It was a relatively short-lived feud.  Is it so wrong for them to want to be "Mr. Burns" rich?

What do you think?  Do tv actors (voice actors included) make too much money or are you clamoring for them to get "A-rod sized" contracts to keep starring on your favorite TV shows?  As always, sound off below.

                                                                     "D'oh!!!!!!!!!!!"

  1. It is a lot of money, but when viewed as a percentage of what the show profits for the profit participants it's very small. I actually thought Harry Shearer's statement was a good one and I agreed. If they did take pay cuts, then I hope they got some off the back end. That show has enough episodes to have its own channel and not run out of new material for like three weeks. That should make money for the people who helped make the show great!

  2. Very well said. If they're all as smart as I hope they are, especially after learning the mistakes from the cast of Seinfeld, they should make damn sure that they get paid for syndication. The show will be playing repeats for years and years on plenty of channels. Jerry Seinfeld was the only one who went for the syndication rights. The others went for DVD's and regretted it. Seinfeld and The Simpsons have infinite "re-watchability." We appreciate your input! Tell your friends.
